Circular references (where a formula refers to itself, directly or indirectly) can lead to unpredictable results and errors. Use the 'Evaluate Formula' tool (Formulas > Evaluate Formula) to trace the dependencies of a cell. Look for formulas that ultimately refer back to the cell they're currently evaluating. Breaking the circular reference is the solution.
