Cronbach's Alpha is a measure of internal consistency reliability. The SEM and Cronbach's Alpha are related. The SEM is the square root of (1 - Cronbach's Alpha). Therefore, a higher Cronbach's Alpha will result in a lower SEM, indicating a more reliable measurement instrument. SPSS's `RELIABILITY` procedure automatically calculates both values, allowing for a direct assessment of both reliability and precision.
