How does Rick Grimes' death differ between the comic and the TV show?

In the comic, Rick Grimes doesn't actually die. He's severely wounded and presumed dead after a confrontation with Sebastian Milton, but is secretly rescued by Shane's reanimated body (due to a serum Carl was using). He eventually recovers and lives a peaceful life with Michonne. The TV show's depiction involved Rick being airlifted away, seemingly to die, but it was later revealed he was taken to a network of allied communities and survived, eventually reuniting with his family.
